The trip to the Theatre



On 21.Nov 2012 students of our school watched the performance  "Gulliver's Travels" by J.Swift exhibited on the stage of the Apollo Theatre. For the first time they had a chance to see a professional theater performance in a foreign language.
TNT theatre was founded in 1980 in Britain and since has established itself as one of the most popular international touring theatre companies in the world. Last season alone the company produced seven productions in almost thirty countries worldwide, ranging from Shakespeare classics such as ROMEO & JULIET , J.Swift GULLIVER’s TRAVELS to their own new play HITLER KILLED MY CANARY, from works by contemporary artists such as Paul Auster’s MOON PALACE to the classic seasonal show: Dickens’ CHRISTMAS CAROL.

GULLIVER’S TRAVELS has been called the greatest satirical work ever written – in an age where the world once again seems to have turned upside down Swift’s caustic wit and irreverent honesty have never been more relevant.
GULLIVER’S TRAVELS is often debased as a children’s story, and has never been anything of the sort! TNT will rescue this literary masterpiece from the pygmies who tried to turn it into a juvenile entertainment and create a play that asks us the very mature questions that Swift was posing three hundred years ago: what is the moral basis of government? What is the value of money? What is the aim of science? And finally, when humans behave like vicious animals why should they be valued higher than beasts? Each of these questions is addressed by Swift in his travels to four different lands – not only Lilliput. TNT dramatise each of the four journeys and because satire is only sharp if it is contemporary, we naturally apply Swift’s critique to our own troubled world.

I think a trip to see the  performance was an amazing experience. What is more,
it is not obvious if would choose it  when I had the possibility to go somewhere out with my friends .. This is another way in which we practice the language  and listen to it .. The native speakers - actors speak it every day, and we  waatch and listen to them and pick it up more and more. It is  Nicer to participate in it than we can practice it during everyday lessons.
It is a pity, such trips cannot be held more often.I hope that such diversification in learning will be available at least once in a school year.

„ Wyobraź sobie ,że wchodzisz na lekcję języka angielskiego, a za biurkiem siedzi ciemnoskóry nauczyciel i wita cię  bez słowa po polsku. Spędzenie 45 minut w sali na lekcji z nauczycielem mówiącym tylko w języku, którego się dopiero uczysz, nie jest zadaniem łatwym. Jednak, gdy pierwsze lody zostaną przełamane , wszystko już idzie jak z płatka. Lekcja z Mosesem była dla mnie bardzo pozytywnym doświadczeniem.”

Native speaker's project



DO YOU SPEAK ENGLISH?
Last week our students from the third classes had an opportunity to attend at the lessons with native speaker Mr. Moses Molongo. He is a teacher and for many years he has been teaching students in different parts of Europe. He has just come to our school from London. He is from Cameroon and that's why he could also tell our students a lot of facts about his country, traditions and customs. The main aim of these lessons was to activate our students' ability of speaking English. Mr. Molongo , his enthusiasm, friendly behaviour, cheerful way of teaching and optimism encouraged students to use their second language. I hope our students don't forget so easily about motivating power that was given to them by Moses

St. Martin's croissants



The recipe for St. Martin’s croissants.
We know how to bake them!!!!!!!!!
      
                               


CAKE

     1 kg of wheat flour
     6 eggs
     0.5 cube of butter
     2 tablespoons of sugar
     50 g of  yeast
     1 cup of milk

FILLING

     1.5 cups of powdered sugar
     200 g almonds and walnuts
     100 g of white poppy
     sour cream

Disssolve yeast  in a small quantity of milk. Whip eggs and sugar and stir with melted butter. Beating altogether  add portions of sieved flour, milk and yeast previously prepared. Make pastry  until bubbles begin to show up and then leave in a warm place to rise. Almonds, walnuts and poppy brew, grind, grate with sugar and cream until thick paste. When the pastry-dough is ready, roll it out and cut into squares. Put a portion of the prepared mass for each of them, shape croissants and leave in
a warm place to rise. Put into the hot oven and bake at 220-250 degrees until golden brown.
